■伊藤潤二先生コメント
現在、私の原作を基にした「伊藤潤二『クリムゾン』」というアニメが作られています。このタイトルを聞いただけでゾクゾクして期待が高まります。新旧の私の短編の中から、特に血のように深い赤色を存分に生かせる作品を選んでアニメ化していただけると聞いております。ユーミンこと松任谷由実さんは、世界における最高の作曲家のひとりだと私は思います。今回『クリムゾン』のOPをユーミンさんに担当して頂ける事になりました。これは普通ではありえない事で、本当に夢のようです。最初ユーミンさんのスキャット風のデモを聴かせていただいて、それだけですぐに名曲と感じました。とても情感豊かで、一度聴いたら忘れられないメロディです。最近はこのユーミンさんの新たな名曲が、私の頭の中でエンドレスに流れていて、幸せに浸っております。TVアニメ「伊藤潤二『クリムゾン』」は、真紅のイメージを想起させるアニメシリーズとなるのは重要なポイントだと思います。さらに加えて、松任谷由実さんがOPを担当してくださる事により、『コレクション』や『マニアック』とはまた違った雰囲気の、特別なアニメ作品になる事でしょう。ファンの皆さんも待ち遠しいと思いますが、是非楽しみにしていてください！
Currently, an anime titled “Junji Ito Crimson” based on my original story is in production. The title alone gives me goosebumps and I can’t wait for it. I heard they’re adapting selections from both my old and new short story collections, especially those that make strong use of the blood-red color. I believe the singer Yumi Matsutoya, known as Yuming, is one of the greatest composers in the world, and she will be singing the opening theme song for this anime “Crimson.” It’s unbelievable, it feels like a dream. I first heard the demo where she was singing in a scat style, and that part alone was enough to call the song a masterpiece. It has such an emotionally rich melody that you can’t forget once you’ve heard it. I’ve been filled with joy these days since Yuming’s beautiful new song keeps playing in my head endlessly. The TV anime “Junji Ito Crimson” evokes an image of crimson red, which is what makes the series stand out. On top of that, having Yumi Matsutoya sing the opening theme song will make this anime very different and special from the other series “Collection” or “Maniac”. I’m sure fans can’t wait, but I hope everyone gets excited and looks forward to it!

伊藤潤二作品には、それがどんなにシュールでグロテスクでも、その根底になぜか必ず繊細な“和”の美しさと哀しみが漂っています。むしろ、異形であればあるほど、そこに在るのに決して掴むことのできない何かへの憧憬が炙り出されるのかも知れません。私たち日本のファンも、多くのフランスのファンの方々も潜在的に気づいている共通の美意識。約200年かけて醸造された妖しい世界を一緒に旅することが出来るなんて、なんと素敵なことでしょう！このMUSIC VIDEOは、伊藤潤二『クリムゾン』に先立つ小旅行。案内役は変幻に飛びまわる(烏揚羽)。伊藤潤二さんにお願いして黒い蝶の画を描いていただきました。今回テーマ曲を依頼され、ラビリンスのようなコード進行にのせたメロディと共に私が思い浮かべたのは、冥界と現世を繋ぎ、異次元を彷徨うメッセンジャーの形。偶然、フランス語でも黒い蝶はそんな意味を持つそうですね。私の描いたイメージは間違いではなかったと思えました。本編公開までしばらくのあいだ、ひとりでも多くの方にこの(烏揚羽)のMUSIC VIDEOで『クリムゾン』への期待をふくらませていただけたら幸いです。
In Junji Ito’s works, no matter how surreal or grotesque they are, there is always a delicate sense of Japanese beauty and sorrow underlying them.
In fact, the more bizarre it is, the more it sparks a longing for something that is there but can never be grasped.
I believe it’s a shared aesthetic sensibility, one that is subconsciously understood by us Japanese fans and many French fans.
How wonderful it is to be able to travel together through a magical world that has been carefully brewed over nearly 200 years!
This music video is a small journey that precedes Junji Ito’s “Crimson.”
Guiding us is a crow swallowtail, flitting around. I asked Junji Ito to draw a black butterfly for this piece.
When I was asked to compose the theme song, along with a melody on a labyrinth-like chord progression, I imagined a messenger drifting between dimensions, linking the realm of the dead with the world of the living.
Interestingly, the black butterfly also carries a similar meaning in French.
It made me feel that the image I had envisioned was not mistaken.
Until the full work is released, I hope that this music video of “Crow swallowtail” will help to fill the anticipation of “Crimson” for as many people as possible.
